{Roots} Roots are an interesting thing. Roots give support; roots transport nourishment for life; roots are the beginning. To root means to establish deeply and firmly. Without roots a tree will fall over; without roots a tree cannot produce fruit. This is the place where I am. I am in the act of putting down roots. This has been a process; a step by step journey that looks much different than I could have ever expected. Though I have been in Tacoma since 2009, it has taken 5 years to finally put down roots and claim this city as my home... and I couldn't have done it without the support system of friends and family. As I prepare for travel this month- Colombia and Ecuador, Spokane, and Portland- I am excited for what the Lord has in store; for the connections He is aligning; and the great blessing it is to visit and be involved in mission in each of these location. A new feeling I am experiencing though is truly missing being home- with my housemates, my Tacoma community, and my coworkers at the main Seattle office. This is such a fun place to be as I have a place that I call home. Don't get me wrong, I call every place I have lived "home"- Cordova, Coeur d'Alene, Parkland, Haiti, etc- but this is different... and I can't explain why but something has shifted in my heart and I love it! Through working with Youth Missions International over the past eight months we have seen the Lord bring forth laborers for His harvest (Matthew 9:35-38). It has been exciting to get to be a part of the process:: building relationships, student preparation, contacting missionaries, and connecting people. In addition to this, the friendships- that have become family- throughout the organization have been a great unexpected joy. It has been so fun to have a team to run with as we equip young people in the faith. I also love commuting to the office and traveling to our remote employees as they have become a close family! Another exciting thing happening, which I mentioned in my update letter is that I am taking a few classes at Western Seminary. It has been eye-opening and so engaging to be able to formally study Scripture and apologetics alongside others. If you wanna hear more let me know! I highly recommend Western Seminary! All-in-all. This has been an amazing start to the new year. 2015 is in full-swing and I am so excited to continue to run and see what more the Lord has in store. I fully believe that there are areas that the Lord desires to bring breakthrough as He draws closer to our hearts. Persevere, continue to contend for His kingdom in your work place, in your home, in your health, in your town. He has come for all nations and He has much to reveal about Himself. So let's {GO} {GO} into your home and serve your family {GO} into your community and make a new friend {GO} into the city and serve the less fortunate {GO} into all the world and give your life. We have been rooted in Christ's love; so, why not? | "For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. |
